Abalone oyster mushroom (Pleurotus Cystidiosus) is a related species cultivated in Taiwan and exported as the abalone mushroom, named for its resemblance to the large adductor muscle of the abalone (a shellfish).

Other names: Maple Oyster Mushroom, Miller’s Oyster Mushroom
(i) Irregular-shaped cap that convexes or shapes like a hemisphere, eventually become flat (2-5cm broad),
(ii) Cap colour: cream to dingy white,
(iii) Widely spaced and broad gills with irregular edges,
(iv) A short and thick stem that is centrally or eccentrically attached.
